Safety when traveling to Turkey on your own

Security is an issue that worries us all when we go to visit an unknown country. We always say that you have to be careful and common sense in all the countries of the world. Turkey is not a dangerous country, but always be cautious. It is advice that you would give regardless of the country you are going to travel to.

Of course, due to the situation in the border countries, it is not recommended to visit the border provinces with Syria and Iraq.

Anyway, we advise you to take a look at the travel recommendations given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to travel to Turkey.

Travel Insurance for Turkey

Something that we cannot forget is to take out travel insurance for Turkey.  We thought we would use it because one day my partner was unwell, but in the end he recovered. Goodness! You always have to have insurance just in case. You know, it never happens until it happens! For some time now, we have always insured my trips with Mondo travel insurance. It is the insurance that we like the most and the one that we recommend.

If you still do not have your travel insurance for Turkey, you can hire it with a 5% discount for being a reader of my blog.

What to see in Turkey

The first thing to be clear about is how much time you have to visit Turkey. Turkey is a big country and it has a lot to see. My advice is that the more days you spend in this country, the better. Of course!

We only had 8 days; therefore our list of places to visit in Turkey was quite short. Of course, it was very clear which two places would be on that list: Istanbul and Cappadocia, places that we really wanted to know.

Both Istanbul and Cappadocia go a long way. You could perfectly spend a week in each place and not get bored or stop seeing new things. At the very least, I’d say give both Istanbul and Cappadocia 3 or 4 days. We repeat, at the very least. We do not mean that with 3 days in Istanbul you will see everything because it is not like that. It is a huge city. But we do consider that it is enough to see the most interesting and get a good idea of the city.

Conclusion

Other places that we recommend visiting during your trip to Turkey on your own (and that we would have visited if we had had more time) are Pamukkale, Ephesus, Mount Nemrut or some small town on the Mediterranean coast.
