For some people it’s becoming more and more difficult to get some extended holiday time, so weekend trips or extended weekends are wonderful ways to have a break. Short and long term cottage breaks have become the modern answer to finding a great and alternative kind of holiday. If you are not the owner of a cottage yourself, there are lots of rental options out there which are available. Should you be considering a cottage holiday, it is of importance for you to consider what time frame you will be having available, your spending budget, plus the number of travellers in your group.
You should try to plan the itinerary around the available time, which you have given over for the trip. Country cottages are an ideal option if one wants to really lap up a bit of rustic style living and is a wonderful way to see nature up and close during a holiday. Summer holiday cottages in the Peak District have become more and more popular and are definitely a big favourite with many people who want to get away from it all.
Thinking Ahead
It’s naturally a good idea to pack a quantity of food before you leave, or at least stop at a shop somewhere on the way to the cottage. The cottage may likely be some distance away from towns and restaurants, so cooking will be a wonderful part of the whole experience. The cottage should have its own cooking facilities, but that shouldn’t stop you from having an outside barbecue! Hiking, fishing and just generally lapping up the great feeling which comes from being out and away from urban or suburban living is what makes these kind of holidays something to remember.
There are plenty of beautiful and well looked after cottage spaces available for rent in a whole range of different settings, and even some cottages are available which are pet friendly, which mean you can take along your four legged best friends to also enjoy and lap up the ambience and wonderful feeling there is to be had in such places.
Furnishings and Amenities
All cottage holidays should include cooking utensils, sheets, blankets, pillows, refrigerators and other mod cons, but you should check out what is available beforehand. If you are looking at going hiking, an extra pair of good shoes may prove very useful along with several extra pairs of socks as well. And you might want to obtain a topographic map to help you to know just how steep or difficult a particular walk just might become.
In addition, think about the number of people who will be travelling in the group. Single families should have no problem fitting in one small cottage trip, whereas larger families will be more comfortable in somewhere with a bit more space and extra bedroom.
And who knows? After giving this kind of holiday a sample, you may want to do it all again! And what a choice of locations!
